Tour Plan

Day 1 Cusco (3,300 m.a.s.l.) - Bosque de Nubes - Pillcopata Lodge (500 m.a.s.l.)

5:00 AM we will pick you up at your hotel in our private Minivan. we leave Cusco city, our first stop will be (Las Tumbas), a pre-Inca site called Ninamarca of the pre-Inca culture Lupacas through the trip beautiful views of landscapes, then we will arrive to Paucartambo (the folkloric capital of Cusco) showing beautiful Spanish colonial architecture and an ancient stone bridge called Carlos Tercero, built in the XVII century, then we continue with our journey to the Abra de Acjanaco at 3. 600 masl (11,811 ft) there and hike to see the dramatic change of the ecosystem and off course if the clouds allow us, we will see the Amazon rainforest of Manu as the starting point of the National Park. We travel along the Manu road enjoying the cloud forest this scenery is simply amazing. There are many waterfalls along the way. That at the end will end in the Amazon River, we will head to the Manu road for lunch in the middle of nature, to see some unique species of mosses, lichens, orchids and birds in this habitat, we have chances to see quetzals, toucans, tanagers The cock of the rock, trogons, tanagers, mammals such as brown capuchin monkeys and gray woolly monkeys. And in the afternoon we arrive at our lodge in Pillcopata.

Day 2 Pillcopata Lodge - Aguas Calientes Shintuya - el Dorado Lodge

After a good breakfast we headed to the port Atalaya during the tour you can see beautiful landscapes and a spectacular viewpoint where you can see the Alto Madre de Dios River, we arrived at the river port of Atalaya board our motorized boat and navigate the Alto Madre de Dios River for 3 to 4 hours, we arrived at the community of Shintuya, where we have the option to enter the hot springs in the middle of the jungle, then continue the journey to the hostel Dorado we accommodate and hike along the trails around. Overnight at Dorado Lodge.

Day 3 El Dorado Lodge - Machiguenka House

(Casa Machigenga is a good example of community-based tourism, as the project comes from the community and 100% of the profits go to them. It allowed the creation of a handicraft store, medicines, boats and motors). We start the activity early we embark and head towards the reserved area of the Manu National Park, where we have an excellent opportunity to find the jaguar (Phantera onca) on the banks of the Manu River, our first stop will be at the Limonal checkpoint and inside the Park we check in and have the opportunity to visit the observation tower one km away where you can observe a variety of bird species, Later we will continue the trip along the Manu River, where you can observe the black caiman (Melanosuchus niger) currently threatened by excessive hunting but protected in the Park, birds, mammals, in the afternoon we arrived at home machiguenga and there is the option to make night walk in search of reptiles, insects, arachnids, amphibians etc..

Day 4 Machiguenga Cocha Salvador House - Torre cocha Otorongo.

This day we will visit 2 beautiful lakes. The park authorities determine the time of our visit to Cocha (Lake) Salvador; depending on this schedule, we will visit Cocha Otorongo. To get to Cocha Otorongo we will board our boat for 30 minutes. We may see a family of capybaras, the world’s largest rodent, browsing on the river bank, or perhaps a jaguar resting or sunbathing on the banks of the Manu River. The walk to the lake is about 20 minutes, an excellent opportunity to encounter one or more of the park’s 13 species of monkeys leaping through the canopy overhead. These are horseshoe lakes, formed when the river changed course, leaving behind a dead-end channel to the main course. The lakes are abundant in fish and wildlife, and provide optimal habitat for caimans and the giant otter (Pteronura brasiliensis), one of the most endangered mammal species in the Amazon. This lake enjoys maximum protection, an excellent opportunity to see the resident family of Giant Otters as they dive for the 4Kg. of fish especially piranhas that each individual consumes daily. Cocha Salvador is the largest of the area’s lakes, with a length of 3.5 km, or approximately two miles long. We will navigate the lake on a floating catamaran platform, which offers excellent new perspectives of lake and forest excellent for photographing them, the trees around the lake can often be seen monkeys; macaws flying variety of herons and egrets patiently waiting for fish, and on the shores the eyes and snouts of caimans. The same day we will visit the Otorongo oxbow lake which is located 40 minutes from the Manu River, where we will walk to the observation tower where with our powerful telescope we have the option to see wildlife around, then return to the Casa Machiguenga and spend the night.

Day 5 Machiguenga-collpa de Guacamayos House.

We have an early breakfast and walk to the macaw clay lick located 40 minutes walk in a pristine forest, where there are possibilities to observe large macaws, and a variety of parakeets and parrots, once finished the activity we will take a long route in search of mammals. In the afternoon we will cross the Manu River in search of wildlife on the banks of the river where we have good opportunities to take spectacular pictures of the sunset, and we will turn off the engine and let the river and the jungle give us the melodious natural sound, while we float back. Overnight at machiguenga house.

Day 6 Machiguenga House - Soga de Oro Lodge.

After breakfast we will board our boat, we navigate the Manu River where we have more opportunities to see a variety of animals, after navigating 4 to 5 hours approximately we will register our departure at the checkpoint of the Manu Park, we will continue our journey until we reach the upper Madre de Dios River, we will navigate against the current for approximately 4 hours until we reach the Soga de Oro Lodge. Option to do a night walk, and overnight.

Day 7 Soga de Oro Lodge - Cusco

After breakfast we will embark for the return to the port of Atalaya. Our land mobility awaits for us and we will make the return trip to the Imperial city of Cusco, where we will leave you at your hotel. End of our service.
